The Roosevelt cottage was built for James and Sara Roosevelt in the early nineteenth century after their marriage. They then a few years later decided to bring their new born son Franklin Delano. He was their most politically accomplished child and went on to become the president of the United States. Over the years he Franklin continued coming back to the cottage and eventually passed it on to his son Theodore or Teddy. Now the parc belongs to both the American and Canadian government and is open to the public to visit as a museum.
