Samantha Power (lahir 21 September 1970) adalah akademisi, penulis, dan diplomat Amerika Serikat kelahiran Irlandia yang pernah menjabat sebagai Duta Besar Amerika Serikat untuk Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa periode 2013-2017.[2]
Power mengawali kariernya sebagai jurnalis yang meliput Perang Yugoslavia. Sejak 1998 sampai 2002, Power menjabat sebagai Direktur Eksekutif Pendiri Carr Center for Human Rights Policy di Kennedy School of Government, Universitas Harvard, lalu diangkat sebagai Dosen Praktik Kepemimpinan GLobal dan Kebijakan Publik Anna Lindh. Ia pernah menjadi penasihat senior Senator Barack Obama sampai Maret 2008, kemudian mengundurkan diri dari kampanye presiden Obama setelah meminta maaf karena menyebut Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton "seorang monster".[3]
Power bergabung dengan tim transisi Departemen Luar Negeri Obama pada akhir November 2008 dan ditunjuk sebagai Asisten Khusus Presiden Obama dan Direktur Senior Urusan Multilateral dan Hak Asasi Manusia di Dewan Keamanan Nasional. Ia memegang jabatan tersebut sejak Januari 2009 hingga Maret 2013. Pada April 2012, Obama menunjuk Power sebagai ketua Atrocities Prevention Board yang baru dibentuknya. Selama masa jabatannya, Power berfokus pada isu-isu seperti reformasi PBB; perlindungan hak wanita dan hak LGBT; perlindungan kebebasan beragama dan minoritas agama; perlindungan pengungsi; kampanye melawan penyelundupan manusia; dan perlindungan hak asasi manusia dan demokrasi, termasuk di Timur Tengah dan Afrika Utara, Sudan, dan Myanmar. Ia dianggap sebagai tokoh utama dalam jajaran pemerintahan Obama yang berhasil meminta Obama untuk melakukan intervensi militer di Libya pada tahun 2011.[3] As of 2014, she is listed as the 63rd most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.[4]
