Daniel Pearl (10 Oktober 1963 – 1 Februari 2002) adalah seorang jurnalis untuk Wall Street Journal dengan kewarganegaraan Amerika dan Israel. Ia diculik oleh teroris Pakistan dan kemudian dibunuh di Pakistan.[1][2][3]
Pearl diculik saat bekerja di Kepala Biro Asia Selatan untuk The Wall Street Journal, yang berbasis di Mumbai, India. Ia pergi ke Pakistan sebagai bagian dari penyelidikan tuduhan hubungan antara warga negara Inggris Richard Reid (yang dikenal sebagai "pengebom sepatu") dan Al-Qaeda. Pearl dibunuh oleh para penculiknya.[4][5]
Pada Juli 2002, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, seorang warga Inggris asal Pakistan, dihukum mati dengan cara digantung karena menculik dan membunuh Pearl.[1][6] Pada Maret 2007, di sebuah tempat militer tertutup di Teluk Guantánamo, Kuba, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, seorang anggota Al-Qaeda, mengklaim bahwa ia secara pribadi memenggal Pearl.[2][7][8] Para peneliti juga menghubungkan anggota Al-Qaeda Saif al-Adel dengan penculikan tersebut.[3]
