Festival Jepang adalah acara perayaan tradisional. Beberapa festival asal mulanya dari festival Tionghoa berabad-abad yang lalu, tetapi telah mengalami perubahan besar karena bercampur dengan adat dan tradisi setempat.
Menyusul diaspora Jepang, banyak tempat di seluruh dunia merayakan festival serupa, yang sering disebut matsuri. Brasil memiliki populasi nikkei terbesar kedua di dunia dan beberapa kota Brasil menjadi tuan rumah matsuri seperti São Paulo[1] dan Curitiba.[2][3][4][5] Amerika Serikat memiliki populasi nikkei terbesar ketiga di dunia dan beberapa kota di Amerika yang menjadi tuan rumah matsuri seperti Los Angeles,[6] San Jose dan Phoenix.[7]
