Hyphessobrycon adalah sebuah genus ikan air tawar dalam famili Characidae. Spesies-spesies ini menjadi salah satu diantara ikan-ikan yang dikenal sebagai tetra. Genus ini tersebar di wilayah neotropis dari Meksiko selatan ke Río de la Plata di Argentina. Banyak dari anggota genus ini berasal dari Amerika Selatan; sekitar enam spesies berasal dari Amerika Tengah, dan satu spesies, Hyphessobrycon compressus, berasal dari Meksiko selatan.[1]
