James John McArdle[1] (lahir 3 April 1989) adalah aktor asal Skotlandia. Dia memenangkan Penghargaan Ian Charleson untuk perannya sebagai Mikhail Platonov di Platonov dan dinominasikan untuk Penghargaan Laurence Olivier kategori Aktor Terbaik dalam Peran Pendukung untuk memerankan Louis Ironson di Angels in America.
Kehidupan awal
[sunting | sunting sumber]McArdle lahir di Glasgow, tumbuh di lingkungan kota Darnley[2] dan bersekolah di SMA St Ninian, Giffnock.[3] Ketika masih kecil, dia menghadiri PACE Theatre Company di dekat Paisley.[4][5] Setelah bekerja sebagai aktor cilik dalam film, pada usia 17 tahun ia memutuskan untuk bepergian dengan bus ke London untuk berlatih sebagai seorang aktor profesional tanpa memberi tahu orang tuanya;[2] dia diterima di RADA setelah awalnya mengacaukan jalur audisinya tetapi berhasil kembali dan mengesankan para penyeleksi.[3][6] Dia meninggalkan sekolah tersebut menjelang akhir tahun 2010, dan pada tahun yang sama dia muncul di Macbeth di The Globe. Dia juga diterima dengan baik dalam perannya dalam A Month in the Country di Teater Festival Chichester.
