Pertempuran Hochkirch berlangsung pada tanggal 14 Oktober 1758 selama Perang Schlesien Ketiga (bagian dari Perang Tujuh Tahun). Setelah melakukan manuver selama beberapa minggu untuk mencari posisi yang pas, pasukan Austria yang terdiri dari 80.000 prajurit dan dipimpin oleh Feldzeugmeister Leopold Josef Graf Daun berhasil mengejutkan pasukan Prusia yang berjumlah 30.000–36.000 prajurit yang dipimpin oleh Friedrich II dari Prusia. Pasukan Austria berhasil membuat kewalahan pasukan Prusia dan memaksa mereka mundur. Pertempuran ini berlangsung di desa Hochkirch dan daerah sekitarnya, sekitar 9 km di sebelah timur Bautzen, Sachsen.

Sejarawan pada umumnya menganggap pertempuran ini sebagai salah satu kekeliruan terbesar Friedrich. Ia mengabaikan masukan dari bawahan-bawahannya dan menolak percaya bahwa pangliam Leopold von Daun yang biasanya sangat berhati-hati akan memulai serangan. Akibatnya, lebih dari 30% pasukan Friedrich dihancurkan; lima jenderal tewas dan ia kehilangan banyak meriamnya. Walaupun Daun berhasil mengejutkan pasukan Prusia, upayanya untuk memanfaatkan keberhasilan ini dengan mengejar pasukan Prusia tidak membuahkan hasil.
