Sir Richard Owen FRS KCB (20 Juli 1804 – 18 Desember 1892) adalah seorang biologis, anatomis komparatif dan paleontologis. Disamping seorang figur kontroversial, Owen umumnya dikenal sebagai naturalis menarik dengan hadiah luar biasanya karena menginterpretasikan fosil-fosil.
Biografi
[sunting | sunting sumber]Owen lahir di Lancaster pada 1804, sebagai salah satu dari enam bersaudara dari seorang padagang Hindia Barat yang bernama Richard Owen (1754–1809). Ibunya, Catherine Parrin, merupakan keturunan dari Huguenot dan ia dididik di Lancaster Royal Grammar School.
